Correct a Fatal Error When Restoring a Backup File in DCAM

12/11/2012

Sometimes when a customer restores a DCAM backup file, they choose the DCS Backup file by mistake not realizing it restricts entry to DCAM with a fatal error when the user reenters DCAM. The steps below show how a customer can restore the original backup file to avoid having to reinstall DCAM.

NOTE: The user must have the most current DCAM backup file in order to correct the fatal error.

  1. XP users navigate to C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\MHS\DCAM\Data. Vista users navigate to C:\Program Data\MHS\DCAM\Data.
  2. Delete the file DCAM.sdf.
  3. Rename the most recent dcam backup (.bdf) file to DCAM.sdf.
  4. Log out of DCAM.
  5. Log in to DCAM. The error should be cleared and the backup restored.
